Tonette Reed was born on May 19, 1971, in Galveston, Texas, to Jonell Reed and Renis Judge. She is a loving and devoted mother to her three children who remain her greatest source of strength.
In 2025, Tonette began experiencing symptoms that initially appeared to be food poisoning. Although the symptoms would sometimes ease, she soon realized something was wrong—she was unable to keep food or liquids down, even on days she felt better. Over time, Tonette made multiple visits to emergency rooms, urgent care centers, and doctors’ offices. Each visit focused on treating symptoms, but the root cause remained undetected.

One day, Tonette went to the emergency room. Not knowing that her Aunt Ann Burrell, a registered nurse (RN), would be there that day. When Ann saw Tonette’s condition, she immediately recognized that something more serious was happening and helped advocate for her to receive thorough testing. Because of Ann’s intervention, Tonette finally received the answers she had been searching for. That visit led to her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in 2025.

Pancreatic cancer begins in the pancreas, an organ that helps with digestion and blood sugar control. It is often aggressive and difficult to detect early.
Stage 4 pancreatic cancer means the cancer has spread beyond the pancreas to other parts of the body. Treatment at this stage focuses on slowing the disease, managing symptoms, and improving quality of life.
Early symptoms are usually mild or vague, and there is no routine screening test. Many people are diagnosed only after the cancer has already advanced.
Symptoms may include severe fatigue, unexplained weight loss, abdominal or back pain, nausea, digestive problems, jaundice, and loss of appetite.
At this time, stage 4 pancreatic cancer is not considered curable. Treatments aim to slow progression, reduce discomfort, and help patients maintain the best possible quality of life.
Treatment may include chemotherapy, targeted therapy, pain management, nutritional support, and palliative care to manage symptoms and improve comfort.
Yes. Many patients experience abdominal or back pain as the cancer grows or spreads. Pain management is an important part of care.
